For roughly 35 years I spent 3 months out of every year a hostage. That’s a dramatic but truthful sentence.
What held me hostage? Tiny little airborne particles from trees, grasses, flowers and other beautiful earth creatures held me captive every April through June. Sneezing, coughing, itching eyes, scratchy throat, wheezing, dripping nose…all day, all night. Not just annoying, by the way, but pretty debilitating. Can anyone relate?
My body is not only sensitive to allergens but also to allergy drugs so after the early years of trial & error I made the decision to just grin-&-bear the quarter year of misery. Although I looked very much forward to the warmth and brightness and beauty of Spring every year, I dreaded the unrelenting attack on my physiology.
On Sat, April 15, 2017 I spent the entire day, literally, planting a flower garden and flower boxes. This was a first for me! My seasonal allergies aren’t 100% gone but 80-90% gone. I accomplished this over the past 4 years by significantly reducing my Oxidative Stress (OS).
OS is caused by free radicals roaming through our bodies and disrupting cellular function. We as humans use oxygen for most of the reactions happening every second of our lives and these chemical reactions create free radicals, and thus, OS.
Guess how many free radicals scientists say we create in our bodies daily? Millions? Billions? Not even close- an average of 300 Septillion new free radicals every day. That’s not a made-up number, that’s a 3 with 26 zeros behind it. And it’s cumulative: 300 Septillion today + 300 Septillion tomorrow + on + on.
Long story short, 4 years ago I found a natural, scientifically proven, highly effective method to significantly reduce my OS. I didn’t know at the time that OS was at the foundation of my seasonal allergies, but I soon found out it was.
Here’s a fun and educational exercise. Go to PubMed.gov (the National Institute of Health’s library of medicine & science) and type in the search field “Oxidative Stress and Allergies”. In fact, for even more fun plug in whatever breakdown or malfunction you wonder might have a correlation to OS and see what you uncover. For example: OS and Arthritis, OS and Diabetes, OS and Cancer, OS and Inflammation, etc.
The effective reduction of Oxidative Stress is the wave of the future. I’m so glad I learned earlier than later. I’m eager to enjoy all 12 glorious months, not just 9 🌺🌻😃🌾🌷.
