Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras begins with the short and simple statement: “And now, yoga.”
Sadhguru’s book, Inner Engineering- A Yogi’s Guide to Joy, explains why Patanjali’s great document on life begins this way. Sadhguru states: “This is because you arrive at yoga only when you realize that your desire is essentially for the limitless, and that absolutely nothing else will settle you…the fundamental desire within every human being is for boundless expansion.”
So, for me, at 44 years of age, and after watching several YouTube videos of Sadhguru (which I first stumbled upon in January 2017), I stated to myself: “And now, yoga.”
I just completed a 4 day immersive yoga and meditation curriculum at Isha Institute of Inner Sciences in McMinnville, TN. It was a transformational experience. I’ve committed to completing the practice sequence 2 times per day for 40 days and then once per day for 6 months. I have no doubt that this daily commitment will expand me on many levels. I’m hopeful that the realized benefits noticed at the 6 month point make it clear to me that an ongoing life practice is wise.
Just as JFB Myofascial Release was (& continues to be) a life transforming experience, I know this additional piece of the puzzle is entering my life journey right on time. I was so blessed to find MFR over a decade ago. MFR freed me from significant daily chronic pain. I am forever grateful for the gift that is MFR! I have a deep knowingness now that MFR + yoga/meditation will create a further expansion.
Like many people, I wrongly assumed that yoga was simply a structured method for loosening the physical body. I never took the time to research what Yoga, the comprehensive science, really was. I now understand that Yoga, like MFR, is both a science and an art and that it impacts all aspects of our being- physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
I’m excited to explore this new puzzle piece. I’d love to hear in the comments how Yoga &/or meditation has had a positive impact on YOUR life!
Healthfully,
Phil
