How often do we run around without a break in our schedule? Even when we do stop doing something, we start doing something else, not really having a chance for a much needed pause. Our bodies, our minds and our spirits need this moment to process on a regular basis. When we do take a well deserved and needed break to listen to ourselves, we allow our awareness to tell us where we are, and to see if we can do anything differently to possibly not get into the state when our bodies hurt, our minds are exhausted, and our lives are in need of a serious reevaluation and adjustment.
“Awareness” is closely related to “feeling”. To quote John F. Barnes again: “without awareness there is no choice.” Which means that when we catch ourselves being tense and allow for that moment of letting go, we might be able to avoid health issues that are about to come out of this chronic tension. That choice is ours and nobody can make it for us. We are the ones who can help our bodies, minds and spirits heal. We can do it by taking that small step to pause, listen and soften into whatever it is what needs to be softened at that time.
